Beavers might be able to stay in River Otter.

The fate of the colony of beavers, the first seen in the UK for 500 years, has been the subject of much debate.

DEFRA had said they'd be taken into captivity after being checked.

But earlier this week a representative of the Government department met the MP for East Devon, Hugo Swire, and the Devon Wildlife Trust to look at the options.

Now DEFRA has said the beavers will be tested to see if they're carrying any diseases. if they are given the all clear, they might be able to return to the river.
