Council confirms cuts to mobile libraries

Devon's mobile library service is to be cut to save the county council money.

The library will no longer call at 65 stops including Longdown, Upottery and Brixington in Exmouth.

The council has already consulted library users on the plan which focuses on the library stops which only attract three or four people.

Dozens of these will be scrapped, and the rest of the stops will see visits changing from fortnightly to monthly.

This will mean fewer library vehicles are needed and save 125 thousand pounds a year.

The changes come into effect in April.
