County council leader visits Exeter to warn of spending cuts

The County Council leader John Hart will be in Exeter later to give a blunt warning to residents about the spending cuts that could be made to services in Devon over the next four years.

He is inviting local residents to discuss the 110 million pounds that needs to be saved, because of cutbacks in Government funding.

Mr Hart wants people to understand the current strain on the county's resources, the savings that could be made at the cost of various services including libraries and rural transport, and the difference a two per cent rise in council tax could make.

The meeting takes place at Exeter City football club at 6.30pm
