Exeter man jailed for theft spree on trains

An Exeter man's been jailed for two years, for stealing passengers' luggage on trains.

Sean Paul McIlroy went on a 'theft spree' and collected a haul worth eleven thousand pounds.

Exeter Crown Court heard how McIlroy  targeted passengers on local trains between September last year and this January.

He would help himself to luggage on the racks and get off at the next station, acquiring valuables including computers and jewellery as well as clothing and a passport.

His victims reported the thefts to the British Transport Police and he was identified through CCTV film.

McIlroy, who's 33 and lives in St Thomas, pleaded guilty to 19 counts of theft.
