Family tribute to Barnstable victim

Lee Turner with his son

Lee Turner's death is being treated as murder

The family of a man stabbed to death in Barnstaple earlier this month have paid tribute to him.

Lee Richard Turner, who was stabbed to death in Barnstaple on Friday 3 August, was 39 and the father of a young son. His family have announced his death "with a heavy, solemn and collective heart", and say they're struggling to understand his untimely death.

They're now fundraising to provide what they say will be a poignant send-off in Bristol, with any money left over going to charity in his name.

The family says: "Lee was a grandson, son, father, brother, friend and known by many. We, as his family, are all heartbroken. We take enormous comfort in the many positive stories we've received from his friends in Barnstaple, and the many people whose lives he has touched. He will be desperately missed.

Mr Turner's funeral will be held in Bristol in due course.

The family is fundraising to pay for his funeral and anything left will be donated to a local charity in Mr Turner's name. https://www.gofundme.com/lee-richard-turner.

A 50-year-old Barnstaple man, Kevin Gale, also known as Kevin Maloney, is in custody awaiting trial for murder.
