Major changes for Exeter bus routes

The 56 bus will take people to Exeter Airport from Exeter St Davids

Changes are being made to bus routes across Exeter and East Devon – including a ‘ground-breaking’ service that takes in Exeter St David’s, the city centre, the Science Park, the Sky Park and Exeter Airport – start from Monday.

The changes to Stagecoach services around Exeter and East Devon follow months of consultation with customers and various stakeholders.

East Devon District Council’s cabinet earlier in 2018 approved spending £536,250 to create the enhanced frequency bus service that connects Exeter to the East Devon Enterprise Zone area. The service starts from 5am and runs through to 11pm, with a bus every 30 minutes at peak times, designs to fit around key shift patterns and flight times.

The 56 Bus runs between Exeter St David’s, the City Centre, Met Office, Science Park, Sky Park and Exeter Airport, before travelling onto to Woodbury and Exmouth.

Other major changes include a new anti-clockwise service in Exeter, the ‘I’, being introduced to link with the ‘J’ to provide a circular route connecting the city centre with IKEA in both directions of travel, while there will also be changes to Exmouth town services and a number of East Devon services.
