Man from Devon amongst the first blind Britons to track Everest

Stuart Young from Lympstone and his friend Steve Parfitt from Exminster, prepare to climb Mount Everest. The worlds highest mountain.

A man who has been blind since birth is preparing for a challenge of a life time. Stuart, along side his friend Steve, will be raising money for charity and proving disability dosen't mean life stops. The challenge, climbing the tallest mountain in the world, standing at 29,00 feet tall.

Stuart, 30, is a father of two. And he will undertake the mammoth challenge in February.

Steve believes Stuart is an inspiration to everybody:

"We are raising awareness of what visually impaired people can achieve," he said.

"Whether somebody's goal is climbing a mountain or dealing with the day to day challenges thats lives dealt them, they can still achieve it. We will treck 80 miles, peaking at an altitude of 17, 000 feet in temperatures dipping to -20C.

"Off course, we are raising mommy for the WESC Foundation, where we both work, supporting visually impaired young adults."
