He was taking part in a fundraising ride for the Devon Air Ambulance.

On what should have been a happy day, Devon's Air Ambulance was called to an incident at one of its own fundraisers.

Police were called just after 1130am (Sunday 15th July) to the A386 between Hatherleigh and Folly Gate. The rider of the first bike had lost control. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his female pillion rider was flown to Derriford in Plymouth with serious injuries.

The 2 bikes behind them were then involved in subsequent collisions. The female pillion rider on the 3rd bike was taken to the RD&E.

The road was closed for a number of hours whilst a forensic examination took place - including the police helicopter taking photos from the sky. Police say conditions and visibility were good, so they want to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash. You contact them on 101 quoting log number 0405 15/07/2018.
