New stations at Marsh Barton and Cranbrook move closer

Work's due to start soon on a new railway station in Exeter's Marsh Barton - and another could be built in the east of Cranbrook. Councillors are being updated this afternoon on several rail projects in the area.

The design of the Marsh Barton station is being finalised for work to begin this autumn, with trains starting to call there from winter next year.
Work's also due to begin later this year on several improvements to the entrance of St David's Station - with longer-term plans to upgrade its three car parks.
Meanwhile an initial study on Cranbrook shows a good economic case for bullding a second station there, to service the Exeter to Honiton line - the search is on now for an appropriate site.
And a second phase of improvement work is due to start soon at Exmouth station, remodelling parts of it and providing better facilities including a café.
