Discussions have been held between Teignbridge District Council and Homes England over funding of a new Link Road for Newton Abbot.
At least 1,500 new homes are envisaged for Wolborough through the adopted Local Plan with a planning application for the site currently under consideration by Teignbridge District Council planners.
Councillor Jeremy Christophers, leader of Teignbridge District Council said a meeting held with Nick Walkley, chief executive of Homes England last week was positive. “We had a very positive meeting," he said. "The public want the infrastructure in first and so do the councillors, and this means that it would happen. We have had a few problems with some housing developments where the infrastructure has not been in place first, but we don’t want that to happen here.
“The meeting was very positive and the starts of discussions, and there is still a long way to go before they commit to the money, but we are making some very good progress.”
