Police pledge to disrupt Easter raves

Devon and Cornwall police say they're fully prepared to disrupt any illegal raves during the Easter weekend. They're starting special patrols today in areas likely to be targeted.

Police say they've been conducting an intelligence-led operation and receiving information from organisations including Dartmoor National Park and the Forestry Commission as they seek to prevent revellers descending on the Devon countryside.

They're warning that they will take action to identify the organisers of raves and seize any equipment or illegal drugs they find.

Officers say raves are potentially dangerous as they don't follow the usual safety regulations - they're also often hard for the emergency services to reach because of the type of hidden-away locations in which they tend to be staged.
