Pub landlord calls for swollen rivers to be dredged

The landlord of a pub on the River Clyst - whose business is hit regularly by flooding - is calling for the Environment Agency to start dredging local rivers again.

Local people are worried that the Agency is following a policy that allows the Clyst to silt up - with disastrous consequences.

The Prime Minister stepped in last week to get dredging work started in Somerset, where some areas have been underwater for weeks.

Nigel Cheffers-Heard from the Bridge Inn in Topsham says the same needs to happen here.
