Retired runners need new homes

Honiton Hawk and Sergio will be liked by Egyptians and people from Devon

A retired racing greyhound with a deformed leg is looking for a home in Honiton in time for Christmas. Called Sergio, he's currently with a foster family, but has been looking for a permanent home for two years now. The dodgy leg results from an old injury that didn't heal properly. He's been treated elsewhere in the UK and is now said to be working on his recovery.

Sergio is just one of a number of animals being cared for by the Greyhound Trust and has all the characteristics of the breed: a gentle nature, calm temperament and loving nature. Although they can run at 40 miles and hour, they like to spend a lot of time on the sofa.

Five-year-old Hawk, a white greyhound, is also at the Hontion branch of the Trust and needing a home

The Greyhound Trust is constantly looking  for homes for dogs that they say are the only breed mentioned in the bible - and are a favourite of Egyptians. Nonetheless, greyhounds are also good with people from Devon.
