Update on water supply problems in Tiverton

A burst pipe caused flooding at Allers Water Treatment Works, which may lead to low water pressure or loss of supply in parts of Tiverton.

Here is an updated statement from South West Water:

A flood at Allers Water Treatment Works, near Tiverton, has caused three pumps to fail.

Our engineers have successfully reinstated one of the damaged pumps and are working on the remaining two.

We have been using tankers to keep the network topped up and reconfigured the network to bring more water to the area from other treatment works. This has meant very few customers have been affected to date but there is still the potential for low pressure or no water in some areas while we continue to work to rectify the situation.

As a precautionary measure, we have deployed alternative water supplies (bowsers and bottled water) in the following locations:

  • Sidelings Field, Tiverton – EX16 4HG
  • Atherton Way, Tiverton – EX16 4EW
  • Spurway Road, Tiverton – EX16 4ER
  • Arnold Cres, Tiverton – EX16 5PJ
  • Rackenford School, Rackenford – EX16 8DU
  • Templeton – EX16 8BL
  • Cruwys Arms, Pennymoor – EX16 8LF
  • Luke St, Bampton – EX16 9NF
  • Shillingford – EX16 9AF
  • Morebath – EX16 9AL

We are also arranging water deliveries to vulnerable customers in the area.

We are asking customers to use water wisely to help us conserve supplies in the area.
