Nothing was discussed.

The 90 second duration even included the election of Cllr George Gribble as the chairman for the meeting and the time it took for him to walk from his seat at the back of the council chamber at Forde House in Newton Abbot to the top table chairman’s seat.

Previous meetings of the Locality Committee have included updates from Network Rail on the South West Rail Resilience Programme, a presentation on the South West Youth Games and NHS representatives outlining models of the care in the region, with the meetings often seeing presentation given on matters of interest to the Teignbridge region.

But Thursday’s meeting saw no presentations from outside bodies on the agenda and no items on the agenda saw any discussion.

Cllr Gribble as chairman brought forward no urgent items, apologies for absence were mentioned, the minutes of the last meeting were approved without comment, none of the councillors took the opportunity to update the committee on committee initiatives and responses to service changes in their own electoral division, and no comments were passed on Devon County Council’s current forward plan and scrutiny work programme.

The meeting began at 11.34am on Thursday and finished at 11.35am, just 90 seconds later.

The entire committee were already in the room as the meeting directly followed on instantly from the Teignbridge Highways and Traffic Orders Committee who had previously met.

Closing the meeting, Cllr Gribble quipped: “I’m sorry to have kept you so long.”
