Two men arrested after boy dies in Totnes crash

Mother breaks arm. 3 year-old son dies. Men have minor injuries.

Two men are in custody (as of Wednesday evening) under arrest on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

It follows a crash involving a Honda and a Volvo at around 12.25pm on Plymouth Road in Totnes. A three-year-old boy died of injuries. His mother, who is local to the area, suffered a broken arm.

Devon Air Ambulance attended, together with other emergency services.

Two men, both from South Devon, and who were in the Honda, were taken to hospital with minor injuries. After initially helping police with their inquiries, they were arrested.

The road between Fork Cross and Folaton Gate - a key route between Totnes and the A38 to Plymouth - was closed for much of the afternoon whilst police officers from the serious collisions unit investigated. They're asking for anyone who may have dashcam footage that might help to get in touch with them on 101, quoting log 920 for 20 December.
