Service rescues vessel for second day running
Exmouth's inshore lifeboat has rescued people off the Devon shore for the second day running.
On Sunday, a speedboat developed a fault a mile and a half out to sea and began taking on water. Three people on board were safely brought back to Exmouth.
On Monday afternoon, another 999 call was made to the coastguard, this time reporting a five-metre day boat drifting out of control with two occupants on board and unable to make headway.
The vessel was described as drifting southerly on the River Exe off Star Cross, close to number 17 buoy.
Within half an hour or so of being alerted, the inshore lifeboat crew ocated the boat in shallow water and took it under tow to the safety of shore at Starcross. Both casualties were safe and well and did not require medical attention.
Among the RNLI volunteers assisting in the assignment were Guy Munnings, Roy Stott, James Edge, Hedley Saunders Andrew Stott, Ed Thomas and James Searle.
