Local lifeboat crews have expressed concern about the number of people going out to sea without adequate preparation or safety equipment.
In the last few days Exmouth RNLI have attended several incidents involving people who hadn't checked the weather and tidal conditions, or ensured they had the right equipment and clothing.
They're urging anyone going out on the water to make sure they have plenty of fuel on board, safety equipment, a fully-charged mobile phone and suitable clothing, and to also familiarise themselves with the tides and weather forecast.
