University student required first aid
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue crews were called to Exeter yesterday morning (Sunday 19th December) to reports of a fire in a building used as student accommodation.
Six pumps and an aerial ladder were sent by fire control, but the fire, caused by an unattended candle which was placed too close to flammable materials, was quickly dealt with.
A university student received burns to her hands and was given first aid.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service remind people to never leave candles unattended, even for a short time.
