Two Devon coastguard stations have appealed for new volunteers, after two were controversially sacked and another pair quit in disputes about procedure.
A pair at Hope Cove were dismissed for using their own vehicle to tow a car from a cliff, whilst two in Croyde resigned after reportedly using a private van to take a person to hospital.
The posts on Facebook from the Coastguard have received a backlash.
One user posted: "We already had a great team! With 30+ years service & knowledge. Shame on you who lost them."
When approached recently, a spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said it would "be inappropriate to comment further at this time" and that "there is no reduction in the quality of search and rescue provided for that area [Croyde]".
