Two people were seriously hurt in a collision in East Devon on Thursday that affected traffic in the vicinity for at least five hours.

A car and a lorry crashed at Clyst St George, near Topsham on 22 April lunchtime, at the roundabout by the St George and Dragon pub. It involved a grey Kia Sorento car and a white MAN TMG lorry.

The front seat passenger in the Kia – a woman in her 70s – received serious injuries including broken ribs and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital for treatment. The driver – a man in his 80s – suffered broken wrists and ribs.

Police have thanked the public for their patience while they investigated the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or was in the area at the time and has any information which could assist the enquiry, such as dashcam footage, is asked to contact police on 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk quoting log 366 of 22 April.

Just over an hour later, a three-vehicle crash four miles away on Topsham Road resulted in a moped rider being taken to hospital. Police are asking for help with that incident too.
