Exeter City keep training ahead thanks to 3G pitch

Club Chairman Julian Tagg posted this image on Twitter earlier this morning

Exeter City FC battles the snow to keep training ahead thanks to their 3G pitch.

Exeter City Coach Paul Tisdale says the 3G pitch investment has been worth every penny. Previously, they've gone for weeks without being able to train. Earlier this morning (19th March) Julian Tagg, Exeter City Chairman, pictured staff clearing the snow off the pitch. Amongst them was director of football Steve Perryman.

The artificial pitch at the club's training ground, which was built last year, has played a pivotal role in City's recent success admitted Tisdale.

The 3G pitch is the first, and arguably the best, of its type in the country. It has been built to the same dimensions as the playing field at St James Park using a Desso artificial carpet and a contemporary cork infill surface. It enables the first team to train effectively during the winter months, and is a facility that Exeter City’s Academy, Football in the Community charity and the Ladies team are able able to use all year round.

City return to action at St James Park on Saturday, March 24 as they take on promotion-rivals Swindon Town in a 3pm kick-off.

The Grecians defeat at Morecambe meant they dropped outside of the play-off places currently sitting in 8th place on goal difference, but play a game in hand away at Port Vale on Tuesday, March 20th where a win could see them back to 6th.
