Suspected poisoned food
Pet owners across Exeter are being urged to stay alert after several animals became unwell since visiting the busy Cowick Barton Playing Fields.
A sign outside the park claims one dog has died, two others are unwell, and four foxes were found dead.
It also warns of suspected poisoned food, describing the incidents as illegal, and is asking pet owners to seek veterinary help if their pets ingest anything suspicious.
In a statement Exeter Police said: “We have received reports of a couple of animals who have sadly become unwell since visiting Cowick Barton Playing Fields and we wanted to warn people who may be visiting the area to be extra vigilant with their pets.
“At this time we are unsure what has caused the animals to become unwell and we are unsure if the incidents are linked together, but please be assured we are looking into this. “
Officers are appealing for information and have asked anyone who may be able to help to get in touch.
People can call police on 101 or use the online reporting form, quoting occurrence 50250208201.
