Wasps confirmed as Chiefs' Premiership final opponents

Club stung by 11 covid cases

It's been confirmed that Exeter Chiefs will play Wasps in the Premiership final this Saturday, despite 11 covid-19 cases in the Wasps' camp.

Seven players were diagnosed with coronavirus before further tests were undertaken yesterday (Tuesday 20th October). But in a statement released today, Wasps said: "Further to Tuesday’s round of the PCR COVID-19 screening programme, Wasps can confirm that no further players or staff have tested positive.

"The team will now return to training in preparation for this Saturday’s Premiership Rugby Final."

The last time Exeter met Wasps in the Premiership final was in 2017 - and the Chiefs came out on top to win their first-ever major silverware. The go into the final as European Champions after beating Racing 92 last Saturday.
