Some people still nervous
The chairman of Exeter city centre's business district says it's "a safe place" to visit.
Footfall in the city centre is 30 per cent below the numbers at this time last year. Fewer people are working in the centre as the government encourages people to work from home if possible, and many people are nervous about the covid-19 infection rate in Exeter, which is mainly focused on student accommodation.
But Patrick Cunningham, who also runs the Phoenix centre on Gandy Street in the city centre, says businesses have made all the necessary safety arrangements.
Conservative MP for Yeovil Marcus Fysh though thinks he's wrong. Mr Fysh advises people to "give Exeter a wide berth".
