Good causes sought

Devon fundraising project aims to raise £100,000 in 2019

Devon’s charities, good causes, schools, scout and guide groups, amateur dramatic societies and local sports clubs are being invited to register for a project that could help them raise thousands of pounds.

Good Deal for Devon, from the people behind Radio Exe has set itself an ambitious target of raising £100,000 for the county’s good causes in 2019.

Registrations are now open for organisations that have projects in mind or that simply need funds to help with operating costs. The key requirements are that projects should benefit people in Devon and that they are run on a not-for-profit basis.

Examples could include cricket clubs that need new nets, amateur dramatics clubs that want to replenish their costumes, or organisations that enhance the lives of specific groups. Schools could raise funds to subsidize trips, or cadets’ groups buy new equipment. Everything will be considered, provided they’re in Devon and it’s for a worthwhile cause.

Spokesman Paul Nero says: “For now, all groups need to do is register using a form on the Radio Exe website, or using a link on the Good Deal For Devon Facebook page. Initial entries close on Christmas Eve.”
