Parts of the A30 after Honiton could be widened to improve safety and access in and out of the region. Devon County Council wants to replace five miles of road between the Honiton bypass and the Devonshire Inn near the A303 ..
The existing A30 after Honiton has sharp bends, steep gradients, poor visibility and limited safe overtaking opportunities ... this often results in congestion and a higher than average risk of road traffic collisions for a modern trunk road.
The proposed scheme is expected to reduce the number of accidents by one third.
The public will be asked for their views as part of a major consulltation which will be launched in early August and will run for two months.
The proposals include replacing the route with a three lane road ... with two and one lanes alternating in both directions allowing for overtaking.
