The turnout among Devon and Cornwall's police officers in yesterday's ballot on whether they should be able to strike was above the national average.
Nationally although more than eighty per cent voted yes, but the ballot has no mandate as fewer than half of officers voted.
However in Devon and Cornwall around sixty seven per cent of officers took part.
The Devon and Cornwall police federation has described the result as a wake-up call for the Government - showing the levels of discontent among rank and file officers..
