New local TV service launches

TV Exe, working in association with Radio Exe, has launched, providing an online television channel showing local news, sport and entertainment.

The man behind the project is the Radio Exe co-owner Mark Tyler, well known to local TV viewers as the face of local news and sport on ITV Westcountry since 1989. He has also worked for BBC Radio, and was a reporter for the ‘Saint and Greavsie’ ITV football programme in the early 1990’s.

Mark says "I have a real passion for truly local broadcasting. We’ve had some fantastic feedback about what we’re achieving with Radio Exe, and it’s really encouraged us to go ahead with this video service.  People are changing the way they watch television, and we can now build a considerable local audience through internet linked TV’s, computers, ipads and mobile phones.

Another Radio Exe newsreader and producer, Tom Watts, is also part of the launch team, alongside features reporter Georgie Myers, and assistant producer Ryan Ellis.

Each week TV Exe will broadcast a local news round-up, the latest from Exeter City and the Exeter Chiefs, interviews with local decision makers, entertainment reports and thought provoking items about local issues that really matter.  The station will also broadcast public opinion about local issues.

TV Exe will even showcase viewer films, and give anyone with a passion for local news and film making a chance to get involved.  Viewers are encouraged to submit local videos filmed on a domestic camera or a mobile phone.

Mark says: "We see this as very much a community project and we want as many people involved as possible. Radio Exe listeners love hearing truly local material, and with the main local TV studios based in Plymouth and Bristol, there’s a chance to do the same now with film and video. We want to provide a new local service, and fill a real gap in this part of the world.”
