It happened at Totnes railway station on Sunday 11th February at around 11.45pm
A 65-year-old man who had just left a train was involved in a row with another man - who then punched and kicked him several times.
He received cuts and bruises following the assault.
Officers believe the man shown in the CCTV image might have information which could help with the investigation.
