Nearly £2,000 in goods
A serial shoplifter from Plymouth has been jailed for multiple thefts of several Co-Op stores in late June.
Justin Godefroy, 28, of no fixed abode, stole £1,815 worth of goods, including food, alcohol, and other items, and grabbed cash from a Premier store till.
Mr. Godfrey refused to be interviewed after his arrest and was sentenced at Plymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday 4 August (2025) after entering guilty pleas to the charges.
He must pay £600 in compensation to Co-op and will spend more than a year behind bars.
Police Community Support Officer Nicola Healey said, 'We welcome the charge.
Godfrey was among the most prolific of all offenders and time and time again demonstrated his lack of consideration for the businesses he targeted and stole from.
We continue to tackle retail crime and do everything we can to bring justice to offenders such as Justin Godfrey.
