150 felines adopted

They found their forever home through Cats Protection League. One cat in particular was reunited with his owner after being apart for 11 months. Scarab the ginger boy went missing shortly after being adopted by Jayne in 2020. She tried everything from posters and social media to driving around for hours everyday to no avail. Jayne was heartbroken to be separated from her feline friend so soon after making his acquaintance.

Luckily for Scarab, Jayne never lost hope. She was over the moon when her fluffy companion was handed into the very same Cats Protection centre from which he was first adopted. In another stroke of luck, the staff at the centre managed to contact Jayne and reunite the pair. The volunteer-run charity helps nearly 200,000 cats every year.

Mike Elliott, Cats Protection’s director of field operations, said: “It’s always so rewarding to see a cat go to a new home and we’re incredibly grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for their support, which helps us care for cats like Scarab until they are adopted or reunited.
“Cats come to us in a variety of conditions and for many different reasons. However long their stay with us, we provide them with the best possible care until a suitable loving home is found for them, helping to create lifelong companion animal bonds between cats and people.”

Cats Protection is the leading feline welfare charity, and all cats adopted from Cats Protection have been fully health-checked and come with a full medical history and four weeks’ free pet insurance which also covers new conditions.

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £3.5 million for Cats Protection since 2018. You can find more information here.
