Police were called at around 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 12 September) following concerns for the welfare of a woman in the town.
Initial enquiries led officers to an address in Bridge Street.
Whilst at the address, officers complained of feeling unwell and were immediately removed from the scene and a cordon put in place.
The ambulance Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) treated these officers. They were unhurt and are now back at work.
Police searched the house and found a number of items which needed expert analysis from specialist officers and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team. Fire and Ambulance crews have been at the scene throughout.
The house has been evacuated and Police say enquiries are ongoing at the property.
Officers say it's not necessary to evacuate any other properties and there is not believed to be any wider public risk at this time.
