A court's heard how the work of a gas fitter from Ottery St Mary was so shoddy that it could have endangered the lives of the people who'd engaged him.
Luke Potts of Cornhill had been asked to fit a new gas boiler at a young couple's home in Chelmsford Road in Exeter.
But he fitted the flue incorrectly... in a way that could have led to lethal carbon monoxide gas leaking into the house.
Potts pleaded guilty to three breaches of gas safety legislation and was given a suspended 20-week custodial sentence.. he was also ordered to pay a thousand pounds in costs and do 60 hours of community service.
