And lightning strikes Totnes house
Dramatic storms in South Devon in the early hours of Sunday morning left one visually-impaired pensioner frightened for her life and homeowners at one property in Totnes counting the damage after their property was struck by lightening.
Betty Baldwin, who is two weeks short of her ninety-sixth birthday was fortunately upstairs in bed when the floodwaters came in around 3am.
Neighbours took care of her and bailed out mud from her home. She's now being looked after by Barberton residents.
Many attractions and events in Devon were called off. Paignton Zoo had to close because of flooding. Travel disruption was widespread, including at Exeter Airport, where inbound and outbound flights were cancelled through the afternoon.
