Devon/Somerset border closed for most of Sunday
A serious crash on the A303 at the Devon/Somerset border at 8.15 on Sunday morning closed the road for a larger part of the day.
Two vehicles collided near the Southfields roundabout at Ilminster, trapping some people in their cars. One person from each vehicle had to be cut out using hydraulic equipment. The fire service eventually left the scene in the hands of the police for investigations to continue.
In a separate incident around 1.25 p.m., Devon Air Ambulance landed on the M5 near junction 31 for Exminster, just after the A38 becomes the motorway.
It's understood two people, a motorcyclist and the pillion rider, a man and a woman, were involved in a single vehicle accident. There's no news of their condition. The northbound carriageway of the M5 was closed for about an hour.
