Fire crews have spent the night at the site of a major barn fire between Crediton and Okehampton.
They were called out by the farmer at Zeal Monochorum who said the animals kept in the barn were being led to safety but the building was going up in flames.
The barn contained hundreds of bales of hay and the farmer helped the fire crews by using his tractor to remove as many as possible to increase ventilation.
Much of the hay was left to burn out overnight with firefighters staying to damp down.
