There are reports of a burglar trying to break into houses in Exeter's Exwick area during the weekend - in one case while the occupant and her children were inside.
A woman in Garland Close was woken up on Saturday night by noises outside and then heard someone trying to open her front door.
She looked outside and saw the shadowy figure of a man.
Other people in Exwick Road were also apparently targeted and local residents are being urged to be vigilant.
