Alcohol-fuelled crime and disorder won't be tolerated in Exeter, according to the city centre manager.
John Harvey is currently taking a carrot and stick approach.
The 'softer' measures include the installation of drinking-water dispensing machines in pubs and clubs.. as these have proved to reduce drunkenness and rowdy behaviour in other towns.
Taxi marshalls may also be introduced to supervise people queuing for late-night cabs.
But Mr Harvey has warned that he's prepared to get tough on trouble-makers - and may be looking at stronger police enforcement.
