Exeter's City Centre went under lockdown for a period on Saturday night - after a suspicious package was found in a shop in Princesshay.
Police were alerted to an unattended bag by staff at New Look at about 6.30pm.
Princesshay and the High Street were cordoned off for up to two hours while it was established that the bag did not contain anything suspicious.
Police have thanked the public for their help.
