There's been a good response to the offer of small grants to community groups in Devon and Cornwall whose work helps reduce crime or support victims.
One hundred and sixty-eight groups in total have have applied for funding of up to five thousand pounds, from the kitty set up by the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Two hundred thousand pounds will be given out - with the first round of grants to be awarded in early December.
The PCC Tony Hogg has welcomed the evidence of a network of people and agencies who will be able to play more of a role in crime prevention, as funding cuts put continuing strain on the resources of the Devon and Cornwall police force.
