An Exeter company has been fined 33 thousand pounds after a man was seriously injured by a vehicle at a recycling centre.
Leases Limited was also ordered to pay nearly 14 thousand in costs.
The man was on foot, sorting through recycling waste at the centre in Matford Business park in October 2012, when a vehicle reversed into him ... he suffered life-threatening leg injuries.
Exeter magistrates heard that Leases Ltd, who were responsible for the site, had hired the vehicle, but failed to fit it with a camera to cover the driver's 'blind spot' when reversing.
The company pleaded guilty to breaching workplace safety legislation .... and it emerged that the same company had been prosecuted after an almost identical incident at the same site, just 20 months ago.
