Plymouth council "appalled"

Plymouth City Council has condemned the actions of those who have placed antisemitic stickers on lampposts and signposts in the city.

Stickers have been removed after they appeared in Exeter street which is close to the Plymouth synagogue.

A horrified member of the public reported it to the council after removing five of them during a walk.

A spokesperson for the council said: “We are appalled by the antisemitic signs that have been displayed in our city. This hateful and discriminatory behaviour has absolutely no place in Plymouth or anywhere else.

“We condemn these actions in the strongest possible terms.

“Plymouth is a diverse and welcoming city, and we stand firmly against all forms of racism, antisemitism, and prejudice.

“Our teams will remove any such signs as soon as possible if we find them, and we thank members of the public who have reported and acted responsibly.

“If anyone sees similar material, please report it to the council or the police so that it can be dealt with swiftly.”
