Police appealing for witnesses
A cyclist is in a critical condition after being hit by a car near Plymouth overnight [21 June].
Police say they were called at around 2:50am, following reports of a collision between a Hyundai saloon and a cyclist on the A38 near Deep Lane, Plympton.
A full closure was put in place as emergency services attended.
The injured cyclist, who is a man in his 40’s from the Mid-Devon area, was taken to Derriford Hospital in a critical condition.
The driver of the Hyundai, a man in his 40’s from Plymouth was arrested in connection to this matter. He remains in police custody.
Investigation work continues, while police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident to contact 101 quoting case reference 50230174296.
