The Quay will shut next week
A celebrity artist is closing his Devon restaurant.
Damien Hirst is said to be the world's richest living artist. He became famous in the nineties for pickling cows - and moved into hospitality with the Quay Restaurant in Ilfracombe in 2004.
Last year one of his galleries in the North Devon resort closed. Next week The Quay will too. The restaurant was still taking bookings as late as Thursday this week, several days after the closure had been announced.
News of the closure comes only a week after one of its neighbours claimed Mr Hirst's businesses were killing the town.
But Mr Hirst had invested heavily in Ilfracombe, including providing a large bronze installation for the quay. (pictured)
