A small rise in council tax to safeguard police officer numbers in Devon and Cornwall has been approved.
The police and crime commissioner Tony Hogg says the rise of just under two per cent - about three pounds a year for Band D properties - will safeguard around 30 officers in the next financial year.
But with Goverment funding cuts continuing over the following three years, he's warning a higher tax increases could be on the cards.
He says without it there could be huge cuts in backroom staff at the end of that four year period.
