Dylan Taylor from Torquay wasn't at Exeter Crown Court for the sentencing - it's believed he fled to Thailand.
He was part of a gang who drove a Mitsubishi into a Co-op store at Trago Mills near Newton Abbot last December and tried to steal the cash machine.
An arrest warrant's been issued for the 33-year old.
