Festive appeal total doubles

Theatre Royal Plymouth has achieved a record-breaking festive fundraising drive, securing more than £56,000 for its youth and community projects.

The total far exceeded the initial £30,000 target, marking a 78% increase over last year’s appeal.

Audiences at The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and the Dick Whittington pantomime contributed £42,000 through bucket collections and donations—a massive jump from the £23.9k raised last year.

The total was further bolstered by £12,240 from a match-funding initiative and £1,365 from a dedicated Crowdfunder.

This funding will launch a new youth theatre group, allowing aspiring young actors to build vital skills and increasing the number of people who can attend summer sessions from 15 to 40.

Director of Partnerships & Philanthropy at TRP, Lucy Howe, said: “We are incredibly grateful to our audiences and members who have so generously supported this year’s appeal. The huge uplift we’ve seen is testament to the spirit of the people of Plymouth and the South West who are committed to making meaningful change for our shared community.”
