Police have been targeting metal thefts .... in an operation in east Devon yesterday.
In recent years the value of metal has risen and thieves have even stolen the material from war graves or plundered telephone lines.
Police set up a checkpoint on the A303 near Honiton and stopped vehicles suspected of carrying metal without a licence.
