Controversial proposals which could have seen beach huts in East Devon rented out to the highest bidder are being put on hold, after a public consultation found the idea was highly unpopular.
Now East Devon District Council say no changes will be made until it has talked to all the town and parish authorities to find out how they want to see their beach huts managed.
That will take place next year.
Councillor Geoff Pook is chairman of the council's Asset Management Forum and he says there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
